Rescue Study - Reducing subject withdrawal via SMS compliance and motivation.
A large study was already enrolling before Exco InTouch were asked to address the challenging issues in patient retention. The study team had noticed a large number of subjects withdrawing from the trial adding significant cost, risk and delay to the study objectives.
The Sponsor was concerned about the withdrawal rates but was also worried that the clinical sites would not be willing to retrospectively enrol patients manually into the InTouch clinical product and therefore reducing its potential impact.
Exco InTouch team were able to mass load the patient's ID and visit schedule from an existing IVRS product and populate InTouch Clinical on a per patient, per site basis. This meant that 90% of the data entry work was performed by the Exco InTouch team and the site only had to add in the cell phone numbers for existing patients and then enrol any new patients in the usual way.
- Sites were able to jump ahead to address patient retention issues by simply selecting the patient, checking the data and editing as necessary.
- Not only did this save time in rolling the system out, but also motivated the site to actively enrol new patients.
- Early withdrawal rates quickly stabilised and improved.
- Subjects appreciated the compliance and motivational reminders.
